Atlantic Watershed Jade-like Stone Pendant in the From of a Mother and Child - PF.3131 *CLICK ANY IMAGE TO ENLARGE* In a soft forest green, an ancient sculptor has created a pendant depicting the blessed mother and child. The mother is affectionately holding her child who is bundled on her back. Such a representation is intended not only to suggest familial devotion, but also to demonstrate the sacred connection between mother and child. The color green, bearing the breath of life, is carved symbolically to represent fertility and perhaps protection. Such a sculpture of domestic life may lead us to believe that the mother used this amulet to ensure the safety of herself and her child through travel or every day household activities. The mother is the archetype of motherhood: strong, devoted and full of patience and love to her child. - (PF.3131) |
